While I love the idea of this pattern, I am still not loving the fit. Especially across the bust. My suggestion, if you dont feel confident enough to adjust the pattern like I did, is to size up.

Another Shearwater kaftan
After I trialed the Make It Perfect Shearwater pattern a couple of weeks ago I spent some time hunting down voile fabric. I finally nabbed this gorgeous vintage polkadot voile in an Ebay auction and when it arrived I quickly whipped it up into a Shearwater Kaftan.

While I love the idea of this pattern, I am still not loving the fit. Especially across the bust. My suggestion, if you dont feel confident enough to adjust the pattern like I did, is to size up.

Finally, someone else who thought the top was too tight around the bust. I thought I was the only one who was disappointed with the finished result. I made the kaftan recently using the given dimensions to determine my size and it's super tight across the bust. Shame really as I like the idea of the kaftan. I'll definitely use your advice and go up a size next time.
If you look at the original pattern - the bust line is the SMALLEST part of the whole shirt! I drew a straight line down from the end of the bottom arm hole to the waist and that gave me another 3 inches practically. But it's still too tight. I've done a 1 inch Front Bust Adjustment (incorporating my first fix) and had to do a Broad Back Adjustment too based on my first muslin. Nice style once you get all the bugs worked out...
