Slowly slowly

Its finally coming together. Its very dark and brooding but I really like it.

However, for a bit of comic relief I have also started working with my collection of charm squares in "brights". My initial plan was to make something like this 'Value' quilt. In the example in the link 'values' of light and dark fabrics have ben used to create the diamond pattern. I thought I would use pink/red/yellow charms and green/blue/brown charms to the same effect. It looked like a dogs breakfast... too many "values". So instead I narrowed it down to using pink/reds and greens/yellow. This is what I have got so far

I am a bit out of my comfort zone with those colours (and their brightness) but I think it works.

It was going to be a cot quilt for George, but now the colours dont work for a 'he' and, besides, Matilda has taken a liking to it. So I've decided she can have it for her bed. She has been helping me match up the charm pairs, sew some half-triangle squares and even press the seams. The only problem is that she doesnt like my planned arrangement into the diamond. She wants this...
BAH!!! Not nearly so interesting.
I have tried to tempt her with a zigzag arramgement instead but she appears immovable.
Oh well. Sometimes you just have to compromise... right? Lucky I still have some charms left in blues/browns/orange. Maybe a cot quilt for George is still on the cards afterall.

I like Matilda's arrangement! Zig zags work for me too! Great colours, they have zing!

Don't you love how quilts can take on a life of their own sometimes!?

Love the vivid jewel tones of all these fabrics.

I love the diamond arrangement myself, but since it will be Matilda's quilt...
I've just added a value quilt to my list of things I want to do!
