Last year of single digits

My oldest girl turned 9 today. NINE!!!! How is that I have been a parent for 9 years? I was 27 when she was born (practically a young mum by todays standard of prima gravida) and I dont feel 9 years older, even though I have squeezed in another 2 pregnancies. According to my daughter though, at 36, I am ancient.

Anyway... back to Elizabeth. Here are some recent photos:

She received some lovely gifts for her birthday but because this is a crafty blog, and my crafty blog at that, I will only show you the one that was handmade by me. If you recall I made her a mermaid raggy quilt using mainly Heather Ross Mendocino fabrics, so I created this cushion from the scraps. I started out with some 9" squares and then sliced, mixed up and rejoined the squares, adding 1" sashing in co-ordinating stripe as I went (I think its from the amy butler lotus range) . The cushion is backed with the same fabric that was used in the backing of the quilt.

Happy Birthday to Elizabeth! Hope she had a wonderful day. My oldest is also turning 9 this year, I too struggle to believe I've been a parent that long already!
